Route :From the far end of the
car park follow the Cader Idris signs. Having crossed
the Nant Cadair the path - called the Minffordd Path
- turns right and follows its western bank through the
trees. When you emerge from the trees on this western
bank, continue along the path until you are opposite
the spot where the forest ends on the other bank. Here,
cross the stream and climb a grassy slope north-east,
following the upper edge of the forest. A clear path
now comes into sight and heads towards Mynydd Moel.
The stony path passes through a wall and continues to
a stile over a fence beside an old wall. When you reach
this stile turn left uphill. There is a path on either
side of the fence. Follow the fence up steep heathery
slopes to the top of Mynydd Moel. As the ground levels
out, you need to be on the right hand side of the fence
and there are several stiles available. Trend right,
away from the fence, to reach the rocky summit, which
is on the cliff edge. From the summit, an easy over
gentle terrain bring you to Pen y Gadair about a mile
away west-south-west. From Pen y Gadair - where there
is a roofed mountain shelter - follow the cliff edge
of Craig Cau and climb steeply to the top of Craig Cwn
Amarch some three quarters of a mile south. From here,
a good path - the Minffordd path once more - follows
the rocky ridge, south-east at first, and descends to
the floor of the cwm a little to the east of Llyn Cau.
Continue east along the path to reach Nant Cadair and
then south to return through the forest.
